I am Stacey Tolkamp, the Program Director for the weekly mentoring program in DeMotte, IN.
I grew up in DeMotte and attended Dordt College where I received a degree in Elementary Education. I also met my husband there and we moved back to DeMotte after 2 years in Ottawa ON. We have four grown children, and have also discovered the joy of becoming grandparents to four very special little ones.
I found myself on the path to becoming a Program Director after listening to a presentation at our church. I thought I would become involved in some capacity but not as a Program Director! The Lord had other plans, however.
So here I am, leading a ministry that has quickly become something that I am very passionate about! I love watching young moms thrive in a community that builds them up, removes obstacles, and shows Christ’s love to them and their children. I don’t always have the answers to every problem they face but I can point them to the One who does. That is the most beautiful part!
I was asked to finish the phrase, “The most fun I have is when…” I would finish that phrase with, “our house is full of friends and family sharing food (especially baked goods!) and fellowship. The coffee is always on and I’d be happy to share a cup and tell you how the Lord is working in this program in DeMotte.
